Toys - Pedro Moura Pinheiro

All of this week’s assignment photos were taken lying in bed, as I had my final (hopefully!) surgery, and can’t move the leg a lot.  So, I had to Photoshop the backgrounds a bit more than normal.  My apologies!

shiny!

I really liked how shiny this dog ended up looking.  You can see my reflection on the dog’s nose, holding the camera vertically.  Although I can’t control the depth of field manually on the Panasonic Lumix TZ3, the relatively shallowness helped give the dog depth.

This week’s assignment sketched on my daughter’s “portable” DoodlePro, which we affectionately call her “PDA” :-)  In this photo, I didn’t really get the right point for the focus, I would have liked the “t” to be a bit more in focus.  Shot with the TZ3.

crab eyes

This plush crab was given to me by some friends, as consolation of having missed a seafood geocaching event due to the accident.  It was shot on top of a pillow, and I maxed out the levels of the background, to give it that studio shot look.  Also taken with the Panasonic TZ3.

off into the unknown!!

My daughter’s medium sized remote controled car, sitting on top of my protruding sheet covered belly (hey, who said a few beers once in a while aren’t useful?! :-D ), with my friend Bruno holding a white piece of paper in the background to make disguising it easier.  I thought of making the white beneath sand colored and the background sky blue, but decided it would be a little too much Photoshopping for the concept of this project.  Also shot with the fantastic TizzyThree :-D

Toys might make us think of both either new, shiny and exciting, or old, worn and nostalgic.  I didn’t have much choice, and couldn’t ask my wife to bring all of our daughter’s toys to choose from… so I went for the shiny, clean new look, with that look of a studio shot - although I didn’t use any flashes, just the hospital room’s artificial and natural light, plus a bit of photoshopping to enhance the tones and make the backgrounds as white as possible.

One Response to “Toys - Pedro Moura Pinheiro”

  1. Congrats on another assignment completed! My comments follow:

    1. Very nice and sharp and very good colors. A little more depth of field wouldn’t hurt in my opinion.

    2. Very creative and very good! I love it.

    3. Very nice use of light and the orange really stands out. Great shot!

    4. Well done! Kind of like a kid’s perspective of his/her toy! nice!

Great work! When you get your feet outside you sure will feel that you evolved a bit by being constrained in that hospital environment!
