Speed - Joao Rechena
Electricity
This one is a normal “electricity ball” that I have on my home office, I’m trying to show the speed the energy. The finger on the top was intentional.

Lonely Windmill
Taken outside my house, the “lonely windmill” stands on the top of my wall, it was spinning, and I’ve decided to try the 2º shutter thing on my 400D, so basically the flash only shoots when the shutter closes instead of when it opens. I’ve used no tripod, so is a little blured on the windmill. Hey, did I mentioned that it was almost 2:00am ?

1001 Nights
Once again, got the great help from my wife, katy, this is a “belly dance belt” shake in the front of one of our bedside lamps. Used PS to darken a little to look like some sort of sunset. 1001 night’s style.

Forced Winds
Just a normal fan, photographed on my “home made” studio, using a flash pointing from the left. The ideia was to freeze the blades just enough to show that they were running. PS to darken a little also. The overexposed was not intentionally but I liked the final effect.

My assignment this weed is a little poor, since all the photos where taken yesterday at 02:00am right before I went to bed. The ideia was to show speed in the daily objects that we have just by our side.

Congrats on one more theme completed! Here are my comments:
1. I like this shot very much, it feels just right! I don’t quite relate it to speed though… but technically I think the lighting is perfect, well done!
2. Again a very nice shot. I like the warm tone on the colors and the neutral background. The only thing missing is the sense of circular motion…
3. I like the artistic tone on this one, it’s not understandable at first sight. But again, I do not relate it to speed…. I think speed is a very tricky theme….
4. Even though this is a much simpler shot than the others, it is for me the only one that matches the theme “Speed”. I think it could be improved with a slightly longer exposure, creating the circular motion around the blades, and maybe the lighting should put the tone on the blades rather than the ‘arm’ that supports the structure.
