Flowers - Pedro Moura Pinheiro

Little note: I’m still in the hospital, and this is one of the assignments “left behind” by me that I’m doing now, as some people brought me flowers and I was in the mood to take some pictures.  I think I could do better under other circunstances, but “making do” with what we have is what this site is all about, so here they are!

here comes the sun

A sunflower looking at the sun.  It was taken with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 in macro mode.

Taken from underneath the flowers, to let the sunlight show some of the details of the petals.  Also taken with the TZ3.

the allure of sex

It’s amazing how the we can recognize, on a totally different species, what is alluring in a sexual way.  Macro mode of the Lumix TZ3.

thorny center

2007_26_pmp_4.jpg

Sunflowers have the amazing ability to track the sun during the whole day.  I had never really noticed how thorny the center of the flower is, from up close, it doesn’t look very inviting.  Taken with the Lumix TZ3.

All these were taken outside (my latest room has a balcony over the parking lot!!), and flowers are at their best with natural light.  I hope you enjoy these!

  1. You’re late! I’m kidding :D
It’s amazing what you can do in a hospital with your panasonic. My favorites are the sunflowers. Keep up the good work and i hope you can get well very soon ;)

  2. nuno, said it all…
I’m now adding to my wish list a TZ3 like yours ;)
Their just perfect, the one I like the less is the last one, not sure why.
The macro detail is just breathtaking on every one.
Keep up the good work my friend.

  3. […] was a mixed week for me. I managed to do one of the assignments I had missed, but after the operation on Thursday, with my mobility reduced, and without my SLR and flash […]

  4. First congrats for another assignment posted! My comments:

    1. A nice shot with nice detail. Although creative, I would prefer to see a little more of the flower, maybe about 90% of it and less sky.

    2. Very nice shot with an annoying shadow :-)

    3. Very good shot. Macro really rules!

    4. Very good detail and creative framing. It’s just missing the depth of field necessary to have detail all along.

Given the hard conditions under which this assignment was made, I think it is GREAT WORK Mr. Pedro. Keep it up!
