I tried to imitate the Lomo image quality, but also the concept in terms of subject, as it’s used a lot by the low-budget, young, urban, “in” crowd. This is a flower growing on the wall of the Loretto Church in Chiado in Lisbon, pointed to me by a co-worker who passes by it everyday. In terms of the image treatment, I did the following:

• Whole image
  • Adjusted the levels to clip the highlights slightly
  • Lowered the saturation
  • Shifted the color cast a little into the yellow
  • Blurred it very slightly
• On the edges only (new layer with a mask)
  • Darkened it to simulate the Lomo lens’ vignetting
  • Blurred it more with Gaussian blur
  • Distorted it the Glass effect to simulate the Lomo lens’ edge astigmatism
