Fake Lomo - Pedro Moura Pinheiro
urban life
Canon PowerShot G9
1/1250 of a second - f/2.8 - ISO 80
I tried to imitate the Lomo image quality, but also the concept in terms of subject, as it’s used a lot by the low-budget, young, urban, “in” crowd. This is a flower growing on the wall of the Loretto Church in Chiado in Lisbon, pointed to me by a co-worker who passes by it everyday. In terms of the image treatment, I did the following:
- Whole image
- Adjusted the levels to clip the highlights slightly
- Lowered the saturation
- Shifted the color cast a little into the yellow
- Blurred it very slightly
- On the edges only (new layer with a mask)
- Darkened it to simulate the Lomo lens’ vignetting
- Blurred it more with Gaussian blur
- Distorted it the Glass effect to simulate the Lomo lens’ edge astigmatism

I am not into Lomo so I cannot really comment on this, but it looks nice to me.
