A Season of Love
Canon 400d + Tamron 18-200mm XRdiII
ISO 800, 1/40s, f6.3, 200mm
The word is heart shaped bokeh.

The idea came early this week, but I took it on Sunday. I do not own any prime lens, so my maximum aperture is f3.5 on my Tamron, so I’ve cut out on black cardboard a little heart, around an 1,5 centimeter height and did some testing on my Christmas tree. To achieve the heart shaped bokeh the photo must be out of focus, at least on my zoom lens, with a prime one a wide aperture should do the trick. After the lab shot, off I went heading to the airport, where I knew there was a tree made with lamps and this is the result. For more details on this trick you should visit DIY Photography and look for bokeh.

could you please tell what size of a hole did you cut out?
